half forgotten classics by old master Angelo Mangiarotti
A small sensation was presented by the manufacturer Agape, known as an exclusive bathroom supplier, at the Salone del Mobile 2010 in Milan: with AgapeCasa, it is expanding its business field to include the entire living area. And for the start he sets the bar very high: With the "Mangiarotti Collection" old and no longer manufactured objects of Maestro Angelo Mangiarotti appear in a carefully and in coordination with the Studio Mangiarotti newly conceived edition.
Among them are the chairs "Clizia" (1990), "P71" (1971) and "Tre 3" (1978), but also the tables "Incas" (1978), "Eccentrico" (1979) or "M" (1969). Mangiarotti's preference for working with plywood and his constructive virtuosity are particularly evident in the "Cavalletto" shelving system ("little horse" or small equestrian obstacle, 1953): The frame in the shape of an inverted "V" is stackable, its center of gravity is in the middle and gives the shelf stability. Closed boxes can be used here instead of shelves, and a dovetail joint provides additional stability. "Cavalletto" is available in veneered oak or in black lacquer. cv
